When I look in the mirror - Blackrose - Feat: Hitman

Backrose is not your ordinary guy, he's known for being a "quiet riot" very unpredictable when it comes to being creative. At a very young age entertaining was his way of life, the youngest of the 6 all singers and musician's he acquired an ear for music. To ground his talents his mother encouraged him to learn an instrument so she signed him up for drums and violin in grade school. Like most kids his age this wasn't what he wanted to be doing with his time being as though he loved sports too. He also sang in the church choir following the ways of the family, he would stop singing and playing instruments because the love for sports grew stronger. Growing up surrounded by talented siblings it wouldn't take long for him to step out on his own. His eyes were on the Deejay and how they made people feel by keeping the music playing with all the right songs. In the 80's his biggest ambitions were learning the latest break dancing move, buying records and listening to the radio. He followed local Deejay's to their parties and helped carry equipment to get in to clubs he was too young to attend. He credits a family friend Kym Williams AKA "Mix Master Flash" a show Deejay from Norristown Pa. for letting him hang around to learn the business. He later got into mixing records and learned the art of cutting and scratching. He would get chances to spin from time to time when the sound crew needed a sound check or the crowd was light. Being in this position landed him his first paying job as gaffer with "Roots Uprising Sound" formally (PHASE II) the sound company that provided sound for "Deejay Flash" and many major venues throughout the Tri-State. He acquired the title Sound Technician after setting up running a major venue by his self. He also held it down on the wheels of Steel during his college years at Cheyney University. It wasn't until the 90's when he worked as a in store deejay and sales representative for The “Sounds Of Norristown” record store, that he realized he had the energy needed to make it in the music business. He would learned the record industry and sales from (Marty Gibbs & Romaine Simms) the owners of record Store who also had managing company and record label. Inspired by meeting numerous of Artist in the industry doing in store promotions he began writing lyrics, singing, and rhyming over instrumentals. This is when he found his avenue to get his voice heard. He wrote with passion waiting for his chance to shine. He would go to open mic showcases throughout the city to learn the craft of writing songs. It was being at the wrong place at the wrong time landed him in jail.  He would go in and out of jail for a few years violating probation and just being a problem. While on the inside he spent most of his time writing and reading. He claims he got caught up in the streets chasing money and woman and the popularity that came with selling drugs.

After being released from prison during the winter 94 he decided to get away from his home town and traveled to Seaford Delaware to visit a college friend. He liked the area and really needed a change lower Delaware was definitely the place for him. The summer of 95 he met Corey Palmer a local rapper/producer for Shore Sound Studio's. They bonded then began to hang regularly at the basketball courts or the studio. There he met Corey's cousin Thackery Palmer who owned the studio. He introduced him to his family and let him stay in the studio that winter to maintain the studio during the holidays. This crew taught him many skills from production to recording. He credits this crew for the birth of "K1 Infinite Energy" the artist the producer. He frequently called home to check on his family and learned that three of his friends died in a car crash, one of them being a very close friend whom he called "The Blackrose" he would later take the name for his production company. His friend pushed him to make music and it hurt him deeply to lose him, he returned home in spring 96. He offered his service as a reference artist to a company named "Axis Entertainment" under Owner Mike Boykin and his partner Kyle Dailey. He would begin his artist development at this point in his life. That fall he was discovered by Blair Thomas a professional football player who owned a record label called "Excalibre' Records Inc", who's featured group was known as (100X) in Philadelphia. It was his time to take music seriously after showing that he had skills, he signed a contract as  Artist/Producer for Excalibre' Records Inc. He spent countless hours working on production and writing songs for the label. He was contacted by a friend that his ex-girlfriend’s was pregnant and that everyone is looking for him to get it straight in lower Delaware. He gets pulled over and incarcerated again for failure to pay fines and cost from a previous cases. The Owner of the company bailed him out later to clear all fines and encouraged him to visit his girlfriend’s in Delaware. In 1997 because of administrative difficulty's the company shut down and he was not able to have any material released. Having his dream snatch from his grasp he traveled back to Seaford Delaware to be a father and to continue to work on his music. He acquired the engineer skill while working with the label and increased the knowledge through trial and error, recording local Delaware talent. Working independently and with a limited expense’s didn't stop him from promoting himself as a one man work force. His desire to make it in a vigorous market made his determination more intense.

In 1998 was featured in a full length Hip Hop documentary called "True Heads the life of a B-boy". He also had 3 production tracks on the independent movie called "Forever by default" about 2 brothers trying to run a music company in NYC. He also performed at many hip hop showcases in the Tri State and Delmarva areas building a fan base for future releases. With a brand new attitude he helped (F-SAR Records) and "Shure Sound Studio", release its first compilation titled "Vision of the ghetto" in which he performed under the name (Lesslegal & Legaless) a group comprised of friend Corey Palmer and himself. He was named head engineer of "Shure Sound Studio" and proceeded to increase in popularity. There he met Terrence Robinson aka Fuquan and many other artists from Wilmington, this was the birth of Tough Love Productions. After the project was completed the studio went back south but he would return the next year, he would base his company in Wilmington Delaware where he could reach north or south without any problem. After creating a buzz, his experience and his skill would land in as Chief engineer for Iron Kurtainz Recordings Incorporated In 2002, a company he helped establish with a Wilmington artist named Orlando Burgos aka "Radimez" who he met while working with For U Entertainment. 2003 they would release a series of Mix CD's and cut their first single on Vinyl in 2004. He and his partner would later fly to Oakland and San Francisco California to expose their music to the west coast. They were featured on Bluesville Nite Club Artist Showcase and received a full page interview in the Entertainment Section of the San Francisco Tribune the same weekend. In 2005 they would signed a host of artist to the Iron Kurtainz label and begin to take on the Tri State and Delmarva areas. 2005 he also helped another friend named Vulnard Clarke to many known as “O.G” open his studio in Southwest Philadelphia under the name "Top Klass Entertainment", where he would assist him with taking over Philly for 2 years with a series Mix CD’s and a host of DVD hip hop battle releases.    He married his Delaware sweetheart in May 2006 and began recording from home in a studio he built in his basement, still working with numerous artist and another run in with law he was forced to fall back from the company he was keeping. Because of parole he could be around the movers and shakers which led him to just working a normal 9 to 5 job. The fall of 2006 he was sought after by Kenneth Gamble to record an (Adina Howard) single that featured local Wilmington Delaware artist 21 Gun’s, in which he did at a short notice but everyone was satisfied with the record. This was a high point only to be followed by its lows, losing his clients because of parole issues the business took its toll on him when the heads of the different company's had a power issue’s, leaving him to fix the damages.  Because of personal matters in 2008 he decided to fall back and go back home where he would return to work for Marty and Romain at the Sounds of Norristown record store. He would again get the gears moving. He opened his studio in the Record store and continued his quest for success with Marty as his manager. This project was never released. Another setback was enough to make him go back to Delaware to rebuild his relationship with various artists. Everything was going fine for him up until 2011 when his step son was murdered, a separation and divorce followed in 2013. He moved back PA to Norristown with attempts at a fresh start, 2014 he worked in 2 studio’s Loud Gang Studios & Gutta Mouth Entertainment generating their businesses to new levels.
